Group Legal are a dedicated team of Lawyers and Contract Managers, delivering expert legal advice and contracting support. Our services encompass pre-sales opportunity assistance, management of high-value client contracts, and oversight of corporate legal and compliance matters.

We are seeking a legal intern/placement student to come and join our UK in-house legal department for one year. During your time here, you will gain first hand practical experience of what it is like working as an in-house lawyer in a fast paced, sales environment. The role will highlight exposure to customer contracting, supplier contracting, bid negotiations, and many more areas as you deal with a broad range of legal queries and work with people internally and externally. Please note that this role is an in-house commercial environment for the entire placement.

The position reports directly to the UK Head of Legal.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining our internal legal records/ resources/ databases
  • Conducting legal research on topics as requested
  • Providing regulatory and compliance support to legal advisers and contract managers
  • Dealing with ad hoc administrative legal requests
  • Working alongside legal advisers to support them in advising on, negotiating and drafting customer and supplier contracts, such as confidentiality, goods/ services agreements and other documentation such as order forms, local services agreements and statement of works
  • Managing our legal inbox, this includes dealing with legal queries and allocating the matters to the wider team, requested by internal teams on behalf of customers and suppliers
  • Providing legal support to bid teams
  • Mentoring work experience students
  • Attending external keynotes and seminars/ webinars hosted by customers or relevant organisations

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Current student, studying a law degree (or equivalent) and completed/or about to complete second year of study
  • Genuine interest in commercial law
  • Inquisitive
  • Proactivity, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn, self-motivated and a helpful attitude
  • Good written and oral skills
  • Ability to work independently, and be part of a collaborative team
  • A calm professional manner, even during times of rapid change

PLEASE NOTE: This is an in-house commercial legal position only available for undergraduates looking to gain experience to support their legal studies. At the end of the placement the successful candidate will return to university to complete thier degree.
